The right place

I read this story in espresso the other day, it really stood out to me. I thought it would be nice to post it for all those who haven't read it. It went along with the verse from John 15:13 "greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life or his friend."

The Right Place

Author unknown

God has a way of allowing us to be in the right place at the right time. I was walking down a dimly lit street late one evening when I heard muffled screams coming from behind a clump of bushes. Alarmed, I slowed down to listen and panicked when I realized that what I was hearing were the unmistakable sounds of a struggle—heavy grunting, frantic scuffling, and tearing of fabric. Only yards from where I stood, a woman was being attacked.

Should I get involved? I was frightened for my own safety and cursed myself for having suddenly decided to take a new route home that night. What if I became another statistic? Shouldn't I just run to the nearest phone and call the police?

Although it seemed an eternity, the deliberations in my head had taken only seconds, but already the cries were growing weaker. I knew I had to act fast. How could I walk away from this? No, I finally resolved, I could not turn my back on the fate of this woman, even if it meant risking my own life.

I am not a brave man, nor am I athletic. I don't know where I found the moral courage and physical strength—but once I had finally resolved to help the girl, I became strangely transformed. I ran behind the bushes and pulled the assailant off the woman. Grappling, we fell to the ground, where we wrestled for a few minutes until the attacker jumped up and escaped.

Panting hard, I scrambled upright and approached the girl, who was crouched behind a tree, sobbing. In the darkness, I could barely see her outline, but I could certainly sense her trembling shock. Not wanting to frighten her further, I at first spoke to her from a distance. "It's okay," I said soothingly. "The man ran away. You're safe now."

There was a long pause and then I heard the words, uttered in wonder, in amazement. "Dad, is that you?" And then, from behind the tree, stepped my youngest daughter, Katherine.

Potty training

yes..we've started potty training Owen. We know nothing about potty training and the whole thing is more like a grand piss up then, actual training. It could be going quite well though, even though the times anything has happened on the potty can probably come to a 1 digit number I feel progress in the air!
ha....well...mothers, or fathers reading this blog, share your knowledge, we want to know everything there is about potty training, how did you do it? what methods did you use? how many days did it take? what kind of routine did you get your child into? how did it work at night? Tell us everything you know.

How the Operation went

The operation went well TTL, although I kind of panicked when they had me in the chair about to do it, and I began shouting as it happened, so they asked me to breathe instead, it was very quick though, and I'm sure its healing well. Thank you for your prayers.

Eye Say Good Bye,

I wanted to thank all those who prayed for my eye. The infection is completely gone and the cyst has gone back down to the size it was before! YAY!
The doctors called me 2 days ago to let me know that Tuesday the 9th of June, is the date of the operation, so please pray for me (at 10:20) and for the doctors to do a good job.
It's exceptionally cool that they're doing it then, as the last time I called the hospital I was told it would be 5 weeks before they could make an appointment for me, so I'm super happy about it coming through so soon! lets hope this is the last time I have to mention my lumps and put health prayer requests for myself up here. Thanx again love you all. x

The good, the bad, and the ugly

The good news is that Owen is completely weaned!!! It went so much better then we both thought, Filz did a great job with him, I realize now we should have done it earlier!
and hes eating well, so that's a relief.
The bad news is that the cyst on my eye got infected and is quite inflamed and sore now. I'm taking a course of antibiotics to get rid of the infection, but the cyst seems bigger, and gets worse every day, and its not like its in a "pleasant" or disguiseable location where I can hide it, its right on the front of my face, where everyone can see it, it's the first thing that you look at...and think, "oh God what happened to her?"
The infection has persisted for about 10 days now, so please pray for the whole thing to go away, or for the doctors to be able to operate soon!I wasn't going to post about my health problems but its really all I can think about right now, and is quite a concern...you're prayers are greatly appreciated. x

Good-Bye baby

Last night for the first time since having Owen, I slept apart from him. I’m not a tough mother, who wants an independent child and is calloused to crying etc. I never really let Owen cry while he was a baby, and have been quite happy to let him dictate my life, so this was a really big deal for me. before, he could nurse whenever he wanted, but do to a barrage of health problems, I wanted to wean him completely. I’m also going away for a while and I didn’t want to disappear from him completely when I’ve been with him almost every day of his life.
The week leading up to last night I tried to explain things to Owen, who I think understood things quite well. I also had to keep making sure that it is God’s will that a get him off the night nursing, because almost every night, I would think that it’s just not possible for him not to nurse, and having him ask me, really tugged on my heart strings.
So....how did it go? Well Filz seemed to be fine the next day, much to my surprise, of course in the morning Owen was determined to have “boobaas” but I didn’t give in and he seems to have accepted that they’re gone for good.
I’m going to miss my baby. I’m going to miss having big boobs too. I can’t say I’ll miss being grabbed and pulled at while trying to sleep, or worrying if he’s eaten or not. The pro’s to weaning him completely out weigh the cons, and I guess it will be nice to not have me posting what new food he’s eaten. Anyway changes here I come, and here Owen comes too... on to the era of toddlerhood.

2 more!

stud muffin has 2 more teeth, a total of 8...and pray for him because next week, Mummy isn't going to nurse him ANY more! Hopefully we'll cure him once and for all from the "boobas" well...his Mummy's anyway

In my heart???

Mum: Robert Jesus lives in your heart.
Robert: yes and sometimes he....JUMPS out! Like this, pop!
Mum: no when Jesus is in your heart he’s there forever.
Robert: yes Jesus is in my heart, and in my toes, and in my legs. (slightly sarcastic tone)
Mum: hum....well Jesus is just in your heart.
Robert: No not in my heart, in my mind...I feel him in my mind. In my mind (touching the forehead)
When is Jesus coming?
Mum: He’s always here he lives with us.
Robert: no...I mean when is he coming...here to our home?
Mum: what do you mean?
Robert: like when is Jesus coming to see us, when is he going to be in the living room? When is he going to be in the kitchen?
Mum: (confused looking for an answer) well he’s like our invisible best friend.
Robert: yes but I want to see him, I want to see him in the living room!
Mum: (Blank for a very long time) ....would you like a snack?
(her conclusion:)I guess hes just carnally minded.

Eye love lumps

Well it looks like I’m going to have to have a minor operation on my eye. I have had lumps appear on my eye lids, quite a bit in the last year. I thought that these were caused by stress and in the past they disappeared within a few weeks, one however, remained....(dun dun dun dunnnn...) for about 3 months maybe more, the doctor diagnosed this as a cyst that develops when a gland is blocked (in the opening part of the eye lid where one would apply eye liner,) this of course has a very sophisticated name which I can’t remember. The doctor explained that tears are actually more than salty water but also grease or oil that helps keep the eyes lubricated, what’s happened in my case is that a gland has gotten blocked with this grease and what they will have to do is give me an injection to freeze the eye lids and then turn the lower one (with the cyst) down cut it open and take all the junk out. Its only a minor operation but I’m starting to worry a little about it. I don’t know if I should accept the lump as a friend or slice it out as a foe. Anyway if my lump and I happen to pop in to your mind please pray for me. (love Amber)
